In this quote George Chapman is trying to say that people do extraordinary things and they might be really talented in math and being a astronaut. You might be everything but are you truly good and the components in that is like honesty, respectful, and trustworthy, becasue what maters most is character and without character of being good you can't be great and successful with a happy life. You must do good,  to be good, and that is the only thing that counts and will make you great. Many are talented and other may not be as talented but it all matters in the heart in the determination and not in the skills but in the hard work you put in. This affect everyone becasue you must do good to be considers great becasue their are many people that when they get to fame they lose all their honesty, respect, and their good character.
