Columbus Day

Christopher Columbus was an italian navigator who sailed in the service of spain. He is described as the founder of the new world America. He was born in Genoa in 1451. The explorer Christopher Columbus made four trips across the Atlantic Ocean from Spain: in 1492, 1493, 1498 and 1502. He was determined to find a direct water route west from Europe to Asia, but he never did. Instead, he accidentally stumbled upon the Americas. Though he did not really “discover” the New World–millions of people already lived there–his journeys marked the beginning of centuries of trans-Atlantic conquest and colonize (http://www.history.com/topics/exploration/christopher-columbus). Christopher Columbus was not the person to discover America because 470 years before he came along vikings had already discovered. Other than that There was Millions of people already living there Native Americans that had their homes. He was not the founder even if they describe him that way.

Reflection:

I think that Christopher Columbus was not the real founder and just ended up in America by accident and that Vikings were the finder and their were already millions of people lived there. So Christopher Columbus should not be described as the  founder of America.
